What is RHUB Remote Radio Unit Hub

By 24th May 2024No Comments

The technical details of the Remote Radio Unit Hub (RHUB).

  1. Definition and Purpose:
    • The RHUB is a component used in wireless communication systems, particularly in indoor scenarios.
    • It serves as an intermediary hub between the baseband processing unit (BBU) and remote radio units (RRUs).
    • RHUBs are designed to enhance signal transmission and coverage within buildings or confined spaces.
  2. Components of RHUB:
    • Input Port Module: This module connects to the BBU via wired connections. It receives the first communication signal sent by the BBU.
    • First Output Port Module: The output port module forwards processed signals to the RRUs.
    • Processing Module: Responsible for signal processing, aggregation, and distribution.
  3. Functionality:
    • The RHUB aggregates and processes signals from the BBU.
    • It optimizes signal distribution to RRUs, ensuring efficient coverage within indoor environments.
    • RHUBs play a crucial role in providing reliable voice and data services indoors.
  4. Use Cases:
    • Indoor Communications Systems: RHUBs are essential for indoor wireless communication networks, where voice services constitute a significant portion of overall communication.
    • 5G Distributed Small Cells: In 5G networks, RHUBs work alongside RRUs and baseband units (BBUs) to provide wireless signal coverage.
