Three main companies operate mobile phones in Saudi Arabia. These are STC (Saudi Telecom Company), Zain, and Mobily. 

  1. STC

STC is the Saudi Telecom Company in Saudi Arabia. This company was established on April 21, 1998. The company headquarters is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mohammed bin Khalid Abdullah is the Chairman and Eng. Olayan M. Alwetaid is the CEO of this company. Services provided by Saudi Telecom Company are mobile, broadband, cloud computing services, Fixed line and mobile, Internet services and IPTV. The company also provides landline and fixed infrastructure, and mobile and data services. 

The company’s 100% shares are owned by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Under the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 171 dated 2 Rajab 1423 H, on September 9, 2002, the Government sold 30% of its shares.

STC
  1. Zain

The Zain operator was set up on 12 March 2008. The headquarters of the company is located in Granada Business Park, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The chairman of this company is HH Prince Naif Bin Sultan Bin Saud Al Kabeer and Eng. Sultan Bin Abdulaziz AlDeghaither is the CEO of this company. 

The company bought the license to operate in Saudi Arabia for $6.1 billion for 25 years. On 26 August 2008, Zain operator introduced mobile services in Saudi Arabia. The company has worked on 2G GSM over 900 and 1800 MHz bands, and 3G UMTS over B1 which is 2100 MHz. The Zain company introduced a 3G service over B8 (900 MHz) and optimised the entire network to HSPA+ in 2010. In May 2016, 187.5 Mbps 3C CA service was introduced, with an additional 5 MHz B8 (900 MHz) carrier utilizing a reformed GSM spectrum. In September 2011, 4G LTE was commercially introduced over B3 (1800 MHz) utilizing the reformed GSM spectrum. The company has reformed the 2100 MHz spectrum to introduce a B1, 2100 MHz carrier. An LTE-A upgrade enhanced peak data rates to 150 Mbps by aggregating the two 10 MHz carriers under CA_1A-3A. The MCC MNC code utilized in the Zain carrier is 420 04. This code is made by the association of Mobile Country Code (MCC) and Mobile Network Code (MNC). The first three numbers showed the MCC and they are utilized to examine the area from which the carried comes. The last numbers of the HNI code show the MNC. Zain Saudi Arabia has a country code + 966. This number + 966 country code is equal to an international calling code

Zain
  1. Mobily

Mobily was established in14 December 2004. Its headquarter is located in Saudi Arabia. Etihad Etisalat Company is a telecommunications services company that provides many services under the brand name Mobily. Sulaiman Abdulrahman Algwaiz is the Chairman and Salman Abdulaziz Albadran is the CEO of this company. The Services provided by Mobily operator are Fixed line, Mobile phone, and Internet service, provider. The 27.45% shares of the company are owned by Etisalat and 11.85% shares are held by GOSI. 

The Etihad Etisalat company was awarded Saudi Arabia’s second licence of GSM in the summer of 2004. The licence is for 25 years. On 5 May 2005, Etihad Etisalat introduced GSM mobile services under Mobily. In June 2006, the Etihad Etisalat company introduced 3.5G services and 4G services introduced on 13 September 2011. In February 2021, Mobily and Nokia extended their coordination and signed a deal of three years that permits it to handle and maintain the radio and transport networks in Riyadh and other areas.
