The 5G Hardware service will deliver a fully managed network access point device, including IPv6 and Internet connectivity, running the required software to connect your applications directly on top of an IPv6-enabled fabric. The 5G hardware will include a modem and an end user device, the latter being a smartphone. The modem is the most critical part of the 5G system because it has to manage significantly higher data rates and much higher antenna density compared to 4G technologies. In addition, 4G systems use beamforming and spatial multiplexing at the eNB (base station/Node B), whereas 5G will support massive MIMO antennas across all cell sectors. 5G is the wireless evolution.
