Introduction to 5G Classes
5G Classes are the first in their kind. We are a small private school with a focus on getting our students into the field quickly. Students get hands on experience working with real clients and projects. They use the latest technological advancements to learn concepts and skills that are directly applicable in the workforce. The 5G Classes at Stanford University, offered by the Department of Communication, are an opportunity to learn more about your role as a leader in today’s rapidly changing communications landscape. 5G Classes are a set of online classes that teach you the latest and greatest in 5G wireless. These fun and informative talks cover lab experiments, data acquisition, modeling and simulation, development boards, testing & certification, RF design and more! 5G classes are a series of short, free educational classes that introduce new technologies and emerging research topics. The 5G project comprises two complementary elements: 5G networks, which include the radio access network (RAN) and core network (CN), and 5G applications, which are developed to make use of the capabilities provided by 5G networks. 5G Classes is a set of courses that allow you to build the knowlege and skills needed to develop applications, services and networks for 5G. The classes are taught by industry experts and cover the technical foundations of 5G as well as the development of 5G systems. 5G introduces many changes to the way that mobile networks are configured, operated, and maintained. In this course, you will learn about those changes and how today’s network operations would need to change in order to take advantage of 5G technologies. 5G classes are designed to teach students the basics of 5G technology and its applications. The course delivers a high level overview of key concepts in 5G, including performance, cost, security and network efficiency. Students will learn about next generation applications, including massive IoT and autonomous vehicles using SDN/NFV. 5G Classes provide a broad introduction to the mobile wireless industry, including technologies and standards. The 5G classes are also designed to help you understand how these technologies and standards are affecting our everyday lives and future. The 5G Networks and Services (NGN) course will be taught by some of the industry’s most experienced and respected 5G engineers. The first half of the course focuses on the technologies, protocols, and architecture behind 5G networks, while the second half of this course provides an overview of how service providers are planning to use 5G to deliver new services or enhance existing ones. The student will gain a thorough understanding of how a spectrum-sharing network like 5G requires a different set of network elements than preceding generations. 5G classes is a program designed to develop and enhance the skills of prospective graduate students in the field of wireless telecommunications. There are two types of 5G classes: online and on campus. The online class is based on distance learning technology, while the on-campus class involves lectures, lab experiments and book projects. Classes have a strong hands-on component and a practicum/internship program provides further opportunities to connect classroom learning with industry experience.
