5G cell sites are designed to support the high speed, low latency and very high capacity applications associated with 5G networks. The site is made up of a base station, which connects to the 4G/LTE network, and may also provide WiFi access; a tower structure to hold the equipment; power equipment for site access and delivery; Backhaul links across fibre or microwave relays, which connect the site to other 5G sites or eventually give back-up access from 4G/LTE. 5G (and the 4G-LTE network it will eventually be a part of) has a higher capacity in terms of the number of people who can use the network at once and improve overall data speeds.
