Introduction:

All the 3GPP Rel-17 NR specifications play an important role in the standardization of 5G cellular technology.  By June 2021, all the standards of Rel-17 will be finalized and published. 3GPP NR Specifications will cover all the relevant use cases so that everything can be connected, anywhere and anytime without non-limiting access to the information.

3GPP RELEASE 17

NR Machine type communication: In 3GPP, 5G LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) IoT communication is completely based on the LTE massive MTC (mMTC) technologies which are LTE-M and NB-IoT (Narrowband – Internet of Things). These technologies cover a wide range of use cases and the different requirements in order to handle high volumes of IoT devices in different use cases, such as smart metering, parking, building management, and also controlling smart city lights, etc.  3GPP has worked on URLLC (Ultra-Reliable Low-latency communications) to meet the reliability as well as latency requirements of critical MTC (cMTC) use cases like robotics, etc. NR light communication is based on the NR building blocks. NR building blocks include NR numerology and SSB bandwidth etc. 3GPP has worked on advanced MIMO (Multiple-input multiple-output) antenna technology over various different releases. These specifications will cover or fix all the issues of the previous releases. For various broadcast solutions, there is a need to look at various advanced features as compared to the TV broadcast. There is a need to develop a common framework so that it can enable Single and multi-cell (SFN) broadcast.
